Santa
Claus will visit the students at Mead Elementary School on December 15 at 10:00
a.m. Following his visit to the school,
he will be transported by members of the Mead Fire/Rescue Department to the
Village Office at approximately 11:00 a.m.
He will be at the Village Office until 11:30 a.m.
VILLAGE
MEETING MINUTES - The
Village of Mead Board of Trustees met on November 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the
Village Office. Present were Chairman
Havelka; Trustees Felty, Guyle, Wielage and Wimer. Also present were Clerk Moline,
Utility/Maintenance Supt. Raver and Police Chief Carlson. Guest was Ed Schroeder.
The minutes of the October 10 Regular
Meeting and October 26 Special Meeting/Hearing were accepted. The
Treasurer’s Report, claims and Certificate Payment #1 to Grosch
Irrigation for $45,465.43 for well drilling were approved.
SCHEDULED GUEST: Accountant Ed Schroeder presented the 10/1/16
- 9/30/17 Audit Report. The report was
approved.
REPORTS: Police/Zoning Administrator/Enforcement
Officer - Carlson presented the monthly police report, an update on current
nuisance abatements and reported several properties with nuisances. Utility/Maintenance Superintendent -
Discussion was held on delinquent water/sewer bills, shut-off process and a
well concern. Action was taken to
approve abandonment of a test well and Well #69-1. Planning Commission - The
minutes of the October 23 meeting/hearing were accepted. Action on amendments to the Zoning
Regulations was tabled. Action was taken
to waive the penalty fees to Lee Feldhaus for removing and placing two trailers
at C&L Villa. Clerk - Moline
reported the Appreciation Dinner for board members and employees and their
spouses/guests will be January 7 at G&L Café.
NEW BUSINESS: A report from DEQ on the October 1 inspection
of the dumpsite was reviewed. Resolution
17-15, Nuisance abatement on property described as 204 W. Eighth St., Lot 7,
Mead, was adopted. The meeting adjourned
at 7:37 p.m.

us for a Children’s Holiday Picture Craft Event. Children can drop by between 3pm and
530pm to pose for a photo and make a holiday frame for it. This photo would
make a nice gift for someone special.

December 19 –
Youth of all ages are invited to our Welcome Winter Party starting at 4pm. We will read stories, decorate cookies, do
crafts, play games, and win prizes.
Friday,
December 22 – Come
participate in the Cupcake Wars. The annual competition for ages 10 and
older will begin at 10am. Stop by
the Library before 7pm Tuesday, December 19, for official rules and
registration form. Pre-registration is required.
The
Annual Holiday Sale Fundraiser runs until close on Friday,
December 22. Winter holiday items
can be purchased for a free will offering. Come finish decoration shopping and
support your Mead Public Library.

20, 2018 – Mead Library Friends of the Foundation will host the Annual Spaghetti Feed at
Mead High School. Come support the Library during the Mead vs. Malcolm
basketball games. Dinner includes spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, breadstick,
choice of homemade dessert, and beverage. Preschoolers eat free, K-6th
graders will be charged $4.00, and 7th grade through adult will be
charged $6.00. Free will donations to the Library will also be accepted.

SNOW REMOVAL GUIDELINES
Any
vehicle parked in violation of any traffic regulations or parked so as to
obstruct the free movement of traffic or to cause a traffic hazard, or parked
on any street or alley obstructing the removal of snow may be immediately
removed upon order of the Police Department.

a snowfall of two (2”) or more, it shall be unlawful to park or stand any
vehicle on any street within the Village of Mead until the street has been
cleared. 5-311
All
sidewalks within the municipality shall be cleaned within twenty-four (24)
hours after the cessation of the snow.

Trustees Hold Special Meeting and Public Hearing
The Village of Mead Board of Trustees held
a Special Meeting and Public Hearing on October 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village
Office. Answering roll call were Guyle,
Wielage and Wimer. Absent were Havelka
and Felty. Also present was Clerk
Moline. Guests were Layla
Giorgakopoulos, Alice Adams and Robert Hannan.
Wimer was elected Chairman Pro-tempore.
A public hearing was called at 6:03 p.m. to
discuss an application from G&L Café for a Liquor License. Resolution 17-14, Recommendation to the NE
Liquor Control Commission to approve a Class C Liquor License to G&L Café
was adopted. The hearing adjourned at
6:06 p.m.
A nuisance abatement issue was tabled
until November 14. Adams and Hannan
brought concerns to the board.
The meeting adjourned at 6:33 p.m.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Mead Lady Raiders Volleyball
Team for qualifying for the Class D2 State Volleyball Tournament. We are very proud of you!
Come
and support the Mead Raiders Basketball teams as they kick off their
seasons. The Junior High boys first game
was at Cedar Bluffs on November 14. The
Junior Varsity girls, Varsity girls and Varsity boys teams play Johnson County
Central at home beginning at 4:30 on December 1. The Junior Varsity boys play their first game
on December 8 at 4:30 p.m. at Palmyra.
The Junior High girls play Cedar Bluffs at home on January 15 at 4:00
p.m.
Thank you to members of
the Mead Fire Department and Rescue Squad for hosting Santa Claus during his
visit to the children in Mead.
The Bank of Mead is sponsoring the Annual Christmas
Coloring Contest for kids through grade six. The pictures that need to be colored and
submitted to the Bank of Mead by 10:00 a.m., FRIDAY, DECEMBER 22nd for
judging. The Christmas Present sheet
will be colored by Pre-K through grade 2 and the Fireplace sheet by
grades 3-6. There are four age
groups: Pre-K through grade K, grades
1-2, grades 3-4 and grades 5-6. Prizes
will be awarded.
You can
pick up the color sheet at the Bank of Mead or the Village of Mead office. Please include your name, phone number and
age on the BACK of the coloring sheet.
The bank
will be providing cookies and treats from December 20 - 22 at the Main
Bank. YUM!
