DOG AND CAT VACCINATION CLINIC AND LICENSE
DAY
SATURDAY, April 8
1:30 - 3: 00 pm
Mead Fire Station
Dr. Dobesh from Green Acre Animal Clinic
will be present to administer pet vaccinations.
Available will be vaccinations for rabies, distemper/parvo for dogs and
rabies and distemper for cats.
Heartgaard and Frontline will also be available to purchase. Bloods tests for heartworms can also be
conducted. Clerk Moline will be present
to issue dog and cat licenses with proof of current rabies vaccination. Cost to license your pet is $4.00 altered
and $6.00 intact. The clinic is NOT
limited to Mead residents only.
If you can’t attend the clinic, please
provide proof of current rabies vaccination at the Village Office to purchase
your license. All pets are to be
licensed by May 1.
VILLAGE OF MEAD BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
MINUTES - MARCH 14
A
Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees was held March 14 at 6:00 p.m. Present were Chairman Havelka; Trustees
Felty, Guyle, Wielage and Wimer. Also
present were Clerk Moline, Utility/Maintenance Superintendent Raver and Library
Director Laurie VanAckeren. Guests were
Candi Sanders and Craig Jones.
A PUBLIC HEARING was called at 6:14 p.m. to review a
recommendation from the Planning Commission to consider amendment to Municipal
Code 11-306 and 11-404. The hearing was
adjourned at 6:17 p.m.
Action was taken to adopt Ordinance 688, amend Chapter 11, Zoning;
Article 3, Districts; Section 11-306, Single Family Residential; and Article 4,
Additional Regulations; Section 11-404, Rear Yard Depth.
SPECIAL
GUESTS: Candi Sanders, NPAIT,
addressed the board regarding cash management of interim funds for the water
project. Laurie VanAckeren
presented the 2016 Library Report. Craig
Jones, First National Capital Markets, presented options for cash
management and funding of interim funds for the water project.
REPORTS: Utility/Maintenance Superintendent -
Raver reported on the test well and pumping stations. Discussion was held on invoice payments for
the water project. Police—The monthly report was presented. Planning
Commission - The minutes of the February 27 Regular Meeting and Public
Hearing and Building Permit 17-01, Colby Properties to construct a house/garage
were accepted. Library—Unofficial minutes from the February 15 meeting
were reviewed. The resignation of
Adrienne Miller from the Library Board was noted. Marty Hagemann was appointed to the Library
Board. Clerk - Moline reported scheduled attendance of Clerk Academy,
requested vacation in June, receipt of the deed for E. Seventh Street and
purchase of a copier.
Park improvements were discussed with request for bid from SECO to
replace 8 GFCI receptacles at the park and plan to repair fixtures in the park
restrooms. Havelka and Felty will
address erection of a fence to surround the recycling bins. The board agreed not to provide ballfield
preparation to the Cedar Bluffs Legion Baseball team, flyers will be posted
seeking someone to prepare the ballfields and noted receipt of a letter from
NDEQ stating answers to residents’ concerns with reissue of AltEn’s
permit. Consideration to vacate N. Third
Street and alley between N. Second St. and N. Third St. will be held at a
future board meeting.
Action was taken to approve payment for 1/2 of the $1,271.09 claim to
Kids Corner Day Care for replacement of the furnace; approved claim of
$17,250.00 to AWS Well Co. for drilling of test hole; approved first reading of
Ordinances 692, 693 and 694 to Waste Connections, Roadrunner Transportation and
S2 Refuse and Recycling for garbage services; and accepted the $175.00 per
roll-up bid from S2 Refuse and Recycling for Mead Clean Up Day.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:04 p.m.

DUMP
HOURS CHANGE APRIL 1
Dump
hours will revert to the April - November schedule on April 1. The dump will be open Wednesday's from 5:00
pm - 7:00 pm. Saturday hours are 8:00 am
- 12:00 pm. Items permitted are tree
branches, weeds, leaves and grass clippings ONLY! All items are to be unbagged.
A
dumpster is also available on-site for disposal of metal and iron products.
Cost
to dispose of items is $2.00 per load, payable to the Dumpmaster. All items will be checked. Dump use is for Mead Residents ONLY!

Warming Procedures
In case of severe weather, the fire siren
will be sounded and go up and down a few times.
This is only to alert members of the Fire Department to be on the watch. It is also a good idea to keep tuned to a
local channel / radio station if we are in a watch area.
If a funnel is actually spotted, they will
blow a steady blast on the siren. This
is your signal to take cover at once.
For those residents or businesses without basements, go to the Alma
Lutheran Church basement, 219 W Fifth Street.
A fireman will have the doors open if we are in a storm warning.
Congratulations to the
Mead Raiders Boys Basketball Team on finishing runner-up in the Class D-2 State
Basketball Tournament.

The
Mead Ball Association will also be hosting a used baseball/softball clothing
and equipment sale. If you have anything
that your child has outgrown and would like to donate it to the Mead Ball
Association, please bring it to the pancake feed. The Mead Ball Association will then sell
these items for a small fee with proceeds going to the Mead Ball Association.
