DOG AND CAT

VACCINATION CLINIC AND LICENSE DAY

Saturday, April 9

Mead Community Building

Dr. Dobesh from Green Acre Animal Clinic will be present to administer pet vaccinations.  Available will be vaccinations for rabies, distemper/parvo for dogs and rabies/distemper for cats.  Products available to purchase will be Heartgard and Frontline.  Blood tests for heartworm will also be available.  Clerk Moline will be present to issue dog and cat licenses with proof of current rabies vaccination. Cost to license your pet is $4.00 altered and $6.00 intact.  This clinic is NOT limited to Mead residents only.

 

All dogs and cats within the village limits are required to be licensed by May 1.  If you have any questions please contact the Village Office at 402-624-2495.

 

Village ordinance 6-118 requires that all owners of dogs and cats are responsible for the removal of any excreta deposited on public walks, recreation areas, or private property.

 

NOTICE OF VACANCY ON

VILLAGE OF MEAD BOARD OF TRUSTEES

 

            Due to the resignation of PJ Nicola, a vacancy exists on the Board of Trustees of the Village of Mead, Nebraska, for the term to expire December, 2018.  Any qualified elector of the Village of Mead, Nebraska, desiring to fill said unexpired term by appointment should contact June Moline, Clerk of the Village of Mead Village Board of Trustees.  Applications will be taken until Monday, March 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.

DUMP HOURS CHANGE APRIL 1         

 

Dump hours will revert to the April - November schedule on April 1.  The dump will be open Wednesday’s from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.  Saturday hours are 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.  Items permitted are tree branches, weeds, leaves and grass clippings ONLY.  All items are to be unbagged.

 

A dumpster is also available on-site for disposal of metal/iron products.

 

Cost to dispose of items is $2.00 per load, payable to the dumpmaster. All items will be checked.

 

Robert McMullen has been hired as the new dumpmaster for the village.  Welcome!

 

MEAD’S ANNUAL COMMUNITY-WIDE GARAGE SALE DAY

Saturday, May 7th, 8:00 am - 2:00 pm

 

If you wish to have your sale listed on the village garage sale map, please contact the Village Office at 402-624-2495 by April 29.

 

 

VILLAGE OF MEAD BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 9TH

 

     The Village of Mead Board of Trustees met February 9th at 6:00 pm at the Village Office.  Present were Chairman Havelka; Trustees Guyle, Wielage and Wimer.  Absent was Trustee Nicola.  Also present were Clerk Moline, Utility/Maintenance Supt. Raver and Police Chief Carlson.  Guests were Lee and Bobbie Feldhaus.

     The Open Meetings Law was noted along with the posting.

     A Public Hearing was called at 6:05 pm to discuss the One and Six Year Street Plan.  Resolution 16-02 was adopted approving the One and Six Year Street Plan.  The hearing adjourned at 6:11 pm.

     Action was taken to accept the resignation of Trustee Nicola due to job conflict; adopt Ord. 671 Building Permits and Maintenance Code, Ord. 672 Occupations Tax, and Ord. 673 Zoning Regulations on third reading; approve first reading of Ord. 677 Non-exclusive franchise with Quality Disposal for garbage services and Ord. 678 Non-exclusive franchise with Waste Connections for garbage services; adopt Resolution 16-04 Special Designated Liquor License to Mead Fire/Rescue Department to host a Mead High School Alumni get-together on 3/18 and 19 at the Mead Community Building; and adopt Resolution 16-05 Interlocal Cooperation Agreement for a Mutual Finance Organization.

     Discussion was held on snow removal.  Raver was directed to purchase a snowblower for use at the village office and library.  Alberto Silva was appointed as the village’s Hearing Officer.  Robert McMullen was approved as dumpmaster.

    REPORTS:  Utility/Maintenance Superintendent - Raver reported the water load-out station project closed by NHHS, extension approved for the Water Project Grant by DEQ until 6/30/16 and discussion on land purchase for a well, treatment plant and tower.  Police/Zoning Administrator/Nuisance Enforcement Officer - The monthly police report was given.  Discussion was held on pending litigation.  Planning Commission -The minutes of the 1/25 Regular Meeting & Building Permit 16-01, Michael Schaal to erect a privacy fence were accepted.  Library - The minutes of the 1/20 Library Board Meeting were accepted.  Clerk - Moline reported status of AltEn’s application to amend their permit as reported by DEQ, upcoming meetings and vacation request.

Monthly Schedule

Coffee Hour is scheduled every Tuesday at 10am and Story Time for young children is offered every Thursday at 4pm and Saturday at 11am.

The Lunch Bunch Book Club will meet from 1130am-1230pm on Friday, March 18.  All residents are welcome to stop by and enjoy the book discussion, dessert and coffee.

The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) will meet on Thursday, March 17, at 5pm.  This group gets together monthly and is open to all boys and girls living in Mead who are in grades 6-12.  Members provide input on books, events, movies and programs offered by the library.

The Library Board will meet on Wednesday, March 16, at 5:30 pm.  The public is welcome to attend.

 

Upcoming Special Events

Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday!  Join us for a movie and a craft on Wednesday, March 2, from 4pm-5pm.  All ages are invited.

This month’s Creature Feature Program will be Tuesday, March 15, from 6pm-7pm.  Jennifer Misfeldt from MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue will share information about dogs and animal rescues.  Stop by and say hello to some cute new canine friends.
