1” Multiple family dwelling           $45.00 per month resident

1” Multiple family dwelling           $60.00 per month non-resident

1 1/2" or larger meter                    $65.00 per month resident

Bulk Sales                                    $45.00 per month + $20.00 per thousand gal.

 

            For the use of water, all water consumers shall pay a metered rate as follows:                                                   

            ALL CUSTOMERS ... $1.75 per thousand gallons

BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING HELD OCTOBER 10

A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held October 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Office.  Answering roll call was Chairman Havelka; Trustees Felty, Guyle, Wielage and Wimer.  Also present were Clerk Moline, Utility/Maintenance Superintendent Raver and Police Chief Carlson.  Guest was Julie Ogden.

 

SCHEDULED GUEST:  Street Superintendent Julie Ogden updated the board on upcoming NRD changes and the 1&5 Year Street Plan.

 

REPORTS:  Police, Zoning, Nuisance Officer - Carlson presented the monthly police report, reported on nuisance properties and reviewed complaints.  Planning Commission - The minutes of the September 23 Regular Meeting were accepted.  Library - The minutes of the September 20 Library Board Meeting were accepted.  Clerk - Moline reported Ed Schroeder will complete the audit for the 10/1/16 - 9/30/17 fiscal year on October 16, receipt of EMC check for repairs to the fence at the park and water payment issues.

 

NEW BUSINESS:  Clerk presented interest rate proposals from three financial institutions for a loan to purchase a skidloader.  Action was taken to approve Resolution 17-11, Loan with the Bank of Mead to purchase a Caterpillar 262D Skidloader; Resolution 17-12, Reimburse capital expenditures from proceeds of tax – exempt or tax - advantaged debt obligations for the water project; Resolution 17-13, Nuisance Abatement at 620 S. Elm St. and approved a 4 year - 1,000 hours extended warranty for $1,325.00 on the Caterpillar 262D Skidloader.  A special meeting will be held on October 26 to review the status of the nuisance abatement at 522 S. Vine St. and a public hearing to address an application for a liquor license from G&L CafĂ©.  The Appreciation Dinner was discussed.

 

The meeting adjourned at 7:04 p.m.

 

The Village Office now has the capability to accept the following credit/debit cards:  VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER AND AMERICAN EXPRESS.  You may make payment at the office, calling the office or on-line.  Rates to make your payment is 2.49% for credit cards, $1.75 for ACH.

 

HAVE YOUR WATER / SEWER INVOICE EMAILED

If you wish to have your water / sewer invoice emailed to you rather than sent through the Post Office, please come to the Village Office to sign up for this service.

 

WANTED: The Village of Mead Library has an opening for a member on the Library Board.  Please contact the library if you are interested in filling this position.  You must reside within village limits.

 

Thank you to members of the Mead Fire and Rescue Department for hosting the Annual Halloween Party.  Also a huge thank you to members of the Mead Community Group, Mead Public Schools PTO and the many participants for their part in hosting Trunk or Treat on Halloween. 

 

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME CHANGES NOVEMBER 5.  Turn your clock back one hour before going to bed.  It’s also time to change batteries in your smoke detectors.

 

The Project has Begun!

 Drilling began by Grosch Irrigation from North Bend on October 16.  This is the first step in the water project which will include two wells, water treatment plant and 150,000 gallon water tower.

Happy Thanksgiving - The Village Office will be closed Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 for Thanksgiving.

 

DUMP HOURS EFFECTIVE

November 1 - March 31

 

The dump will be open the FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH ONLY from 8 am - 12 pm.  During the winter months please be aware that the dump may be closed due to inclement weather.  Tree branches, weeds, leaves and grass clippings are the only items permitted.  A dumpster for metal / iron products is available at the dumpsite.  The dump is open to Mead residents only!  The cost is $2.00 per load, including metal /iron products.

 

WATER AND SEWER PAYMENT GUIDELINES

When paying your water/sewer bill, you have several options available:  Drop your payment off at the village office, place your payment in the drop box by the front door of the Village Office, mail your payment to Box 46, Mead, NE 68041-0046, deliver to the Bank of Mead, or pay with a debit/credit card.  If you bank with the Bank of Mead you may sign up for automatic payment on the 15th of every month.  You must complete the required paperwork at the village office.  Payments are due on the 15th of every month.  Your payment must be in the office BY 9:00 A.M. THE FOLLOWING DAY to avoid a $10.00 late fee.

 Monthly Schedule

Coffee Hour is scheduled every Tuesday at 10am.

Story Time for young children is offered every Tuesday at 4pm.

The Mead Public Library Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday, November 15, at 530pm in the Library.  Please consider joining our Board.  See a librarian or a current Board member for information.

Lunch Bunch Book Club will meet Friday, November 17, from 1130am-1230pm.

Special Events

November is Read Aloud Month!  Join us to welcome a Special Guest Reader for Story Time every Tuesday in November at 4pm.  We’ll read a story or two, make a fun craft, and there will be a snack to take home.

Wednesday, November 1, and Wednesday, November 8, from 6pm-8 pm – Come for TWO fun-filled evenings as we learn how to make Fabric Bowls with Jolene Buck.  Please stop by the Library to get the list of materials before Wednesday, November 1.

Saturday, November 4 – We will host a Lego Party from 9:30am-11:30am.

Saturday, November 11 – Join us to make a Thanksgiving Craft. All ages welcome from 10am-11 am.

The Annual Holiday Sale Fundraiser starts on Tuesday, November 28.  Many items will be priced at $1.00. Come do some holiday decoration shopping and support your Mead Public Library.

Our Annual Holiday Sale will begin next month and we are seeking donations of holiday decorations. If you have extra Christmas or other winter holiday decorations, please consider donating them to the Library for this fundraiser.  We appreciate your support!
