VILLAGE
BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEET MAY 8TH
The Board of Trustees of Mead met May 8 at
the Village Office at 6:00 p.m. Present
were Chairman Havelka; Trustees Felty and Wimer. Absent were Trustees Guyle and Wielage. Also present were Clerk Moline and
Utility/Maintenance Superintendent Raver.
Guests were Jody Weible, Josh Girmus and Cort Silliman.
PUBLIC HEARINGS: A Public Hearing was held to address a
request from Girmus Investments to approve a Preliminary Plat to subdivide
45.24 acres. The Preliminary Plat was
approved. A Public Hearing was held to
address a Final Plat submitted by Ray Kucera, Jr. to subdivide property with a
split off of one acre to Scott Subbert.
Ordinance No. 709 was adopted to approve a Final Plat from Ray Kucera,
Jr. to create Subbert Subdivision.
SCHEDULED GUEST: Curt Silliman, First National Capital Markets
presented options for funding construction of improvements for the water
project. Ordinance No. 712 was adopted
for issuance of General Obligation Water Bonds for funding construction of
improvements to the village’s water project.
REPORTS: Police/Zoning Administrator/Nuisance
Enforcement Officer - Carlson presented the monthly police report. Nuisance abatements described in Resolution
17-16 and 17-17 were removed with resolution of clean-up of the properties. A trailer parked along a street was discussed
and tabled until the June 12 board meeting.
Utility/Maintenance Superintendent - Raver reported pump
maintenance at the wellhouse and damage at the baseball field when a light
tower fell. The board voted to remove
the three additional light towers at the baseball field. Planning Commission - The minutes of
the April 23 Regular and Public Hearings (2) and permits were accepted. Permits being: 18-05, Adam and Jessica Miller to construct a
fence; 18-07 Richard Kuhr to construct a pole building; and 18-08, Mead Public
Schools to construct two fences; and 18-06, Richard Kuhr to demolish a
garage. Building Permit 17-15 was
voided. Library - The minutes of
the April 16 Library Board meeting were accepted. Clerk - Moline reported topics covered
at Clerk Academy and sale of 42 pet licenses to date.
NEW BUSINESS: Moline reported Attorney Freeman-Caddy’s
opinion on permit fee for construction of private wells and public concerns of
odors emitted by Alt-En. Action was
taken to approve an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Wahoo to spray
mosquitoes for 2018; adoption of Ordinance No. 711, addition of costs paid by
applicant for publications and engineer opinion to Section 9-201, Building
Permits; Special Designated Liquor License to Spirits by Beckman to host a
wedding reception at the Fire Station on June 30; and approved no longer
providing free trash service to the three local churches per non-franchise
trash removal agreement with Waste Connections, Roadrunner Transportation and
S2 Refuse and Recycling. Discussion on
the future use of the depot building was tabled until the June 12 board
meeting. Items of discussion were
collection of tires during Mead Clean-up Day scheduled for May 26, reported Marilyn
Jensen will maintain the median in 2018, and fireworks business owner.
The meeting adjourned at 8:12 p.m.

Story
Time for young children is
offered every Tuesday at 4pm. We
will read a book or two, make a craft, and receive a take home snack.
The
Mead Public Library Board of Trustees will meet Monday, June 18, at
530pm in the Library.
The
Lunch Bunch Book Club will gather Friday, June 15, from
1130am-1230pm.
Special
Events
Thursday, June 7 – The Dare to Dream Teen
Book Club will meet from
1pm-2pm. Please
sign up for this fun club at the library before May 31. We’ll
read a new book each month, discuss it, and have snacks and prizes. For anyone in grades 7 – 12.
Wednesday, June 13 – Join us from 5pm-6pm to make a craft
gift for Father’s Day.
Every Friday in June –
Come to our Musical Movie Morning at 10am. Movies will be rated PG. We’ll supply the popcorn, you bring the
covered drink. We will have a Pitch
Perfect Marathon on June 28 starting at 10am. The 3 Pitch Perfect movies are rated
PG-13 and prizes will be given out after each movie.
Thursday, June 21 – Join us for Pictures and
Props. Stop in and get your picture taken anytime between 2pm-4pm.
Tuesday,
May 29 through Friday, June
1 – The annual Summer Reading Camp for children entering
Kindergarten through grade 6 will meet at the library each day from 10 am-11
am. Special guests will visit each day. In order to participate, a
family member must have a Mead Public Library card and be in good standing.

All-Terrain
/Utility-type /Golf Car Vehicles
are
required to be licensed within the Village of Mead. Contact the Village Office to obtain or renew
your permit by APRIL 1. The
permits are good for 1 year.
Not
permitted: Motorbikes, Mopeds, Scooters,
dirt bikes, and go carts!
REMINDER—
A fence is required f
you currently have or plan to install a swimming pool/spa or hot tub with at least 18” of water. If the spa/hot tub has a lock attached this
will forgo the fence requirement but the spa/hot tub must be locked at all
times when not in use. A permit for the
fence must be obtained from the Planning Commission prior to erecting the
pool/spa/hot tub. If you are planning a
building or building/deck demolition project you must contact the village
office to obtain an application and to be placed on the agenda of the Planning
Commission. The application must be
approved by the Planning Commission prior to starting the project.
