VILLAGE OF MEAD STORM WARNING PROCEDURES

In case of severe weather the fire siren will be sounded and go up and down a few times.  This is only to alert members of the Fire Department to be on the watch.  It is also a good idea to keep tuned to a local TV channel / radio station if we are in a watch area.

If a funnel is actually spotted they will blow a steady blast on the siren.  This is your signal to take cover at once.  For those residents or businesses without basements, go to the Alma Lutheran Church basement at 219 W. Fifth Street.  A fireman will have the doors open if we are in a storm warning.

All dogs and cats within the Village of Mead are required to be licensed by MAY 1.  Please obtain your pets license at the Village Office.

Youth Baseball and Softball is underway for the summer season.  Please come and support the youth and coaches!

POINTS OF INTEREST ~

SWIMMING POOLS / SPAS / HOT TUBS:  A fence is required to surround all pools, spas and hot tubs containing at least 18” of water.  If the spa / hot tub has a lock attached this will forgo the fence request but the spa / hot tub must be locked at all times when not in use.  A permit for the fence must be obtained from the Planning Commission prior to erecting the pool / spa / hot tub.

WATER / SEWER INVOICES:  Water and sewer invoices are sent out the last week of the month.  Invoices are to be paid by the 15th of the following month.  Payment must be received by 9:00 a.m. the following day (or Monday if the 15th falls on a Friday or Saturday) or a $10.00 late fee will be assessed.  A letter notifying you of this will be mailed and payment expected within 10 working days. If payment is not received in the office by the expected deadline your water meter will be shut off.  If it is not physically turned off and the shut-off notice is delivered you must still pay the re-connect fee as it is then considered an administration fee. Payment can be made by mailing, delivering to the Village Office, placing your payment in the drop box located by the front door of the Village Office, or delivering to the Bank of Mead.  If you have an account with the Bank of Mead, arrangements can be made for automatic payment on the 15th.  If you wish to use this service please stop by the Village Office and complete the required form.
