Village of Mead Board of Trustees

Special Meeting – August 6, 2007
A Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees was held August 6 at 6:00 p.m. Present were Feldhaus, Howell, Mongan, Raver & Swanson. Also present was Brabec. The board entered executive session at 6:01 p.m. to discuss personnel matters. The board exited executive session at 7:01 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 7:03 p.m.

Regular Meeting – August 14, 2007
The Village of Mead Board of Trustees met August 14 at 6:00 p.m. Present were Feldhaus, Howell, Mongan, Raver & Swanson. Also present were Moline, Brabec & Carlson. Guests present were Ron Bottorff, Dave Henke, Ed Schroeder, Gil Frey, Steve Mayfield, Rick Wielage, Vern Taylor, Bob Hogg, Dan Havelka & Jody Weible.
Bottorff & Henke of JEO, presented an Engineering Agreement for a proposed disinfection facility. The proposal was accepted. Other discussions presented by guests were Gil Frey - rental of safety equipment from City of Wahoo, Vern Taylor - proposals from Mead Ball Assoc. & Dan Havelka - roof leak & basement wall concern at depot.
A Budget Workshop was called at 7:10 p.m. Accountant Schroeder prsented the proposed 10/1/07 - 9/30/08 budget. Discussion was held by the board. Public input was called. The proposed budget will be presented at the Sept. 11 Budget Hearing for approval. The Workshop was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
Action was taken to approve Richter, Inc. to repair N. Oak St. for $12,800.00, Brabec to seek bids to shingle depot & discontinue snow removal service to Joyce Circle.
Executive session was entered at 8:20 p.m. for personnel evaluation. Executive session was exited at 8:56 p.m.
A $458.00 annual increase was awarded to Brabec, with a six-month review.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.

ANNUAL TRAIL RIDERS SCHEDULED TO ARRIVE

The River City Round-up Trail Riders will arrive in Mead on Friday, September 28. Breakfast will be served to the riders and guests upon their arrival at Benal’s Shop. Dale and Marilyn Benal will host the event. Breakfast is open to the public at a minimal charge. Serving begins at 9:00 a.m.

The Board of Trustees and residents of Mead wish to publicly acknowledge donations received in support of the new concession stand / restrooms located at the park. Contributions were in the form of monetary donations and labor.

BUILDING REQUIREMENTS

Prior to beginning a building project, please be aware that an Application for a Building Permit must be approved by the Mead Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Village Office on the fourth Monday of the month, excluding December. The application is due into the Village Office by the Thursday prior to the meeting.

The only construction items that are excluded per zoning ordinance from having a building permit are sidewalks, driveways and accessory buildings less than 150 square feet. A permit is also required to move or destroy a building.

Also be aware that you must contact Digger’s Hotline prior to disturbing soil. The number is 800-331-5666 or 811. A timeline must be followed to allow utilities to be located.

All funds raised by the Mead Boosters are used to help purchase uniforms, equipment and supplies for our athletic programs. Our major fundraiser is the concession stand at home games.

To become a member, contact Dalene Salko at the Bank of Mead and donate your $10 to the Mead Athletic Boosters. Following the purchase of your membership, Mead Public School will be notified of your membership. They in turn are responsible for issuing the discounted athletic passes through the school office.
