Mead Fire/Rescue Department Annual Halloween Costume Party

The party begins at 6:00 p.m. with hot dogs and hot chocolate served by members of the Fire/Rescue Department.  Costume judging for all ages will follow shortly thereafter.  Don’t be late!  This is annual event sponsored by the Mead Fire/Rescue Department.  Thank You!


BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEET ~
     The Village of Mead Board of Trustees met 8/22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mead Community Building for a Special Meeting.  Answering roll call was Chairman Havelka; Trustees Felty, Guyle, Wielage and Wimer.  Also present were Clerk Moline and Utility/Maintenance Superintendent Raver.  Approximately 50 guests were present.  Craig Reinsch, Olsson Associates, discussed a future water project that calls for a new well, treatment plant and water tower.  Discussion was held on funding of the project.  The meeting adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
     The Board of Trustees held a Regular Meeting on 9/13 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Office.  Present were Chairman Havelka; Trustees Felty, Guyle, Wielage and Wimer.  Also present were Clerk Moline, Utility/Maintenance Superintendent Raver and guest, Craig Reinsch.
     A Budget Hearing was called at 6:05 p.m.  Approved were:  10/1/16 through 9/30/17 fiscal budget, additional 1% increase and Resolution 16-13, Final Tax Levy of 26.4980 cents per one hundred dollars of actual valuation.  The hearing adjourned at 6:11 p.m.
     SCHEDULED GUEST:  Craig Reinsch, Olsson Associates, outlined the water project which includes projected costs and deadlines.  Action was taken to approve Letter Agreement #1 with Olsson Associates for professional services to complete a water project calling for a new well, treatment plant and water tower.
     REPORTS:  Police - Carlson presented a written Monthly Police Report.  Discussion was held on process of a declared nuisance at 420 S. Cedar St.  The board agreed to release items stored during abatement of property at 1020 Co Rd M.  Utility/Maintenance - Raver reported meter maintenance, jetting a storm sewer at 619 S. Vine St. and drainage concerns.  Planning Commission - The minutes of the 8/22 Regular Meeting and Permits were accepted.  Permits issued were:  16-12, Cyndie Barris to demolish a garage; 16-13, Cyndie Barris to erect a polyethylene steel frame shelter; 16-14 to Jeremy Harnish to erect a 6’ privacy fence; 16-15 to Allison Leimer to erect a fence and 16-16 to Gary and Laurie Guyle for a house addition.  Library - The minutes of the 8/17 Library Board meeting were accepted.
     NEW BUSINESS:  Action was taken to adopt Resolution 16-14, Rate for Storage and Resolution 16-15, Special Designated Liquor License to Michael Beckman to sponsor a Poker-Night for the Mead Post Prom.  The event is hosted by the Mead
Post Prom Committee. 
     Projects were reported that the Mead Ball Assoc. have undertaken and wish to see happen in the future at the park.  Discussion was held on options to repay the loan for the future water project, Board of Trustees wage schedule from numerous municipalities were reported and a letter was received from USDA indicating that the property at 309 W. Second St. is nonagricultural.
     The meeting adjourned at 8:07 p.m.

      Oct. 11 – Teen Advisory Board will have their first meeting of this school year at 4pm.  All teens/tweens in grades 6th-12th are invited to attend.
      The library will be closed Thursday, Oct. 20 & Friday, Oct. 21 so the librarian can attend the National Library Conference in Omaha.
      Do you have too many holiday decorations?  Please consider donating them to the library.  We will be having a fundraiser in December where you may purchase holiday items for a small donation.  All proceeds will go to the library.
     *We are getting ready for our Summer Reading Camp!  If you would like to be a part of this fun program for our        Mead children please stop by and speak with one of our librarians.  Thanks!

The Mead Community Group will sponsor the Annual Trunk-or-Treat at the Mead Fire Hall north parking lot on Halloween, October 31 in conjunction with the Mead Fire / Rescue Department’s Annual Halloween Costume Party.  Everyone is welcome to decorate a car trunk or pickup box and pass out candy.  All participants will be entered in a drawing to win an Autumn-themed decoration.  Come and join the fun!


MEAD COMMUNITY GROUP -
This month the Mead Community Group wants to share some information we received that we feel everyone with children of any age would like to have.  It's common sense, but a reminder is always good.



Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Childhood experiences can greatly impact individuals in adulthood. Negative or positive experiences in childhood play a role in shaping how individuals respond to situations as they age. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are serious childhood traumas that result in stress, which can harm the developing brain. ACEs can lead to chronic health conditions and early death in adulthood. What are ACEs? The original ACE Study was conducted in Southern California in 1995-1997. Over 17,000 Health Maintenance Organization members participated in the study, which included a physical examination and surveys about childhood trauma and current health status. All of the ACE questions refer the first 18 years of life. Two-thirds of the participants had at least one adverse childhood experience and 1 in 5 had three or more ACEs. Since 2009, the ACE study has been conducted in several states, including Nebraska in 2010-2011. Of all of the states collecting data, the research showed a much high prevalence rate than researchers first anticipated. In Nebraska, over 50% or an estimated 1.37 million people report having at least one ACE. The highest individual ACEs were in household substance abuse and verbal abuse. Nationally, common adverse childhood experiences include household substance abuse, parental separation or divorce, household mental illness, mother treated violently, incarcerated household member, emotional abuse or neglect, physical abuse or neglect, sexual abuse, and natural disasters. There is a strong association between ACEs and some of the nation’s worst health and social concerns.  Individuals with 1 or more ACEs are at a greater risk for developing negative chronic health conditions or negative well-being outcomes. The more ACEs an individual has, the greater the risk.  Exposure to ACEs increases the risk of: Substance Abuse - Smoking - COPD - Heart disease - Depression - Suicidal ideation and/or attempts - STDs - Intimate partner violence - Low academic achievement - Teen Pregnancy.   Prolonged exposure to stress can damage the developing brain and affect overall health and well-being. Stress can affect children in the following ways: reduced ability to learn and problem solve,  difficulty making friends and maintaining relationships, Increase stress hormones, which can reduce the body’s ability to fight infections.

The ACEs study provides insight on the significant impact adverse childhood experiences have on the lifespan. The ACEs study can also help us begin to understand how to prevent these health and social problems that are linked to adverse childhood experiences. Prevention strategies: Community education on ACEs - Parenting classes and parent support groups for any new or expecting parents - Supports for parents - Therapeutic interventions for Adults, Children, Children-Parent interaction - Family - Positive youth development programs, like Teammates - After-school mentoring programs  - Professional Partners Program etc.  - Assist youth in developing coping skills and stress reduction strategies - Create environments that make children feel safe.

These are some of the ways to prevent ACEs and help children cope through education and community systems.

All good information, but here at home we are moving into our October activities, celebrating Red Ribbon Week in cooperation with Mead Public Schools and the Elementary Student Council October 23 through October 31.  And again the Mead Community Group will sponsor a Trunk-or-Treat at the Mead Fire Hall on Halloween, partnering with Mead Fire and Rescue after their annual costume contest.  Everyone is welcome to decorate a car trunk or pickup truck and pass out candy.  All participants will be entered in a drawing to win an Autumn-themed decoration.  Come on out!

DUMP HOURS effective November 1 - March 31
The dump will be open the FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH ONLY from 8 am - 12 noon.  During the winter months, be aware that the dump may be closed due to inclement weather.  Tree branches, weeds, leaves and grass clippings are the only items permitted.  A dumpster for metal / iron products is available at the dump.  The dump is available to Mead residents only!  Cost is $2.00 per load, including metal / iron products, payable to the Dumpmaster.


POST PROM VEGAS NIGHT FUNDRAISER
A Post Prom Vegas Night Fundraiser will be held following the Homecoming football game with Parkview Christian on October 14 from approximately 9:30 pm - 1:00 am.  The event will be held at the Firehall.  A $5.00 entry fee at the door will cover food.  Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.  Various games and Bingo will be offered.  This event is limited to those 21 years of age and over.  Proceeds go to Mead Post Prom.  Come and support a great event and have some fun!

VILLAGE OF MEAD BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEET AUGUST 9 

    A Regular Meeting of the Village of Mead Board of Trustees was held August 9, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Office.  Answering roll call were Chairman Havelka; Trustees Felty, Guyle, Wielage and Wimer.  Also present were Clerk Moline, Utility/Maintenance Superintendent Raver, Police Chief Carlson and Library Directors Moseman and VanAckeren.  Guests present were Ed Schroeder, Dick and Joan Swanson, Melissa Konecky, Viki Miller, Jan Behrens, Cheri Else, Paulette Mayfield, Connie Schliffke, Kristin Kavan, Denise Patocka and Jeannette Johnson.

    A Budget Workshop was called at 6:10 p.m.  Accountant Ed Schroeder reported the 10/1/16 through 9/30/17 proposed budget.  Discussion by the board followed.  Public input was heard.  The board reconvened to regular session at 7:16 p.m.

     SCHEDULED GUEST:  Jeannette Johnson provided information about the Mead Community Group.

     REPORTS:  Police Chief / Zoning Administrator / Nuisance Enforcement Officer - Carlson presented the Monthly Police Report, provided a update on an unapproved accessory building, status of nuisance at 410 S. Oak St., status of declared nuisance and condemnation of a building at 420 S. St. and the process to remove wood, debris and metals from a property located at 1020 Co Rd M.  A bid from All Metals was approved to remove the items.  Utility / Maintenance Superintendent - Raver reported water violation, concrete replacement on certain streets, water condition concern at the lagoon site and meter maintenance.  Planning Commission - The minutes of the July 25 Regular Meeting and Building Permits were accepted.  Permits being:  16-09, Leo and Linda Sweet to erect a 6’ privacy fence and 16-10, Mike Maly to erect a 4’ chain-link fence.  Discussion was held on an expired Building Permit issued to Perry Storm.  Action was taken to void Building Permit 15-02 and issue a new permit for an extension regarding the timeline to relocate a house to 518 S. Spruce St.  Library - The minutes of the July 20 Library Board Meeting were accepted.  Clerk - Moline reported the issue of one UTV permit.

     NEW BUSINESS:  The board adjourned to executive session at 8:10 p.m. for the protection of the reputation of an individual — Police Chief.  The meeting reconvened to regular session at 8:17 p.m.

     The meeting adjourned at 8:17 p.m.

VILLAGE OF MEAD BOARD OF TRUSTEES HOLD MEETING JULY 12
　

A regular meeting of the Village of Mead Board of Trustees was held July 12, 2016 at the Village Office at 6:04 p.m. Present were Chairman Havelka; Trustees Felty, Guyle and Wielage. Absent was Trustee Wimer. Also present were Clerk/Treasurer Moline, Police Chief Carlson and Library Director VanAckeren. Guests were Craig Reinsch, Maureen Freeman-Caddy, Patty Knott, Alice Adams, Bob Hannan, Jim Halbmaier, Levi Durnal and Jeff Barris.

SCHEDULED GUESTS: Attorney Maureen Freeman-Caddy discussed the process for a condemnation. Litigation process was discussed in Executive Session with the board. Motion passed to schedule clean-up of property located at 1020 Co Rd M pursuant to court order. Jim Halbmaier and Levi Durnal expressed their concerns over low water pressure. Raver and Wimer will look into a solution of the problem. Craig Reinsch, Olsson Associates, presented an update on the water project, and annexation and easement processes. Alice Adams and Bob Hannan expressed concern with condition of properties and a drainage issue along Seventh Street from Elm Street to Vine Street. Raver will be directed to contact Subbert Pumping to clean the storm sewer. Jeff Barris addressed a nuisance violation.

UNSCHEDULED GUESTS: Laurie VanAckeren was granted permission to store unused library shelves at the quonset, with Raver moving from the library to the quonset. Patty Knott questioned possible annexation and easement on her property.

REPORTS: Police - Carlson presented the monthly police report, nuisance violations at 410 S. Oak Street and 420 S. Cedar Street and status of an accessory building erected without the required permit. Resolution 16-12, Declared Nuisance Violation and Condemnation Declaration of Property located at 420 S. Cedar Street was adopted. Planning Commission - The minutes of the June 27 Regular Meeting were accepted. Jim Halbmaier was approved as a member of the commission. Library - The minutes of the June 15 Library Board Meeting were accepted. Clerk - Moline reported receipt of a concern with the dump being unlocked during off-hours, IIMC class credits, required meter repairs, peddler permit request, recycling and vacation request.

NEW BUSINESS: Action taken was to adopt Ordinance 685, All-terrain vehicles, Utility terrain vehicles and golf cars permitted and Ord. 685, Amend salary of the Utility / Maintenance Superintendent and Library Directors. Input was presented on budget requests for the upcoming fiscal year.

The meeting adjourned at 9:31 p.m.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

　A Public Meeting will be held Monday, August 22, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mead Community Building.

　

The purpose of the public meeting is to allow input into the planning of a State Revolving Loan funded water project on the part of the local citizens and any other interested parties, governmental agencies or groups.

　

All persons interested in the design, location and construction of the water facilities and the potential impact to the existing water rates are invited to appear and express their views.

PLEASE NOTE: The library will close at 6pm on Tuesday, August 9, for the Village Board Budget Hearing and close at 5:30pm on Wednesday, August 17, for the Library Board Meeting. We will also be closed all day Thursday, August 25, and Friday, August 26, so staff can attend a training conference.
　
Monthly Schedule
Coffee Hour is scheduled every Tuesday at 10am and Story Time for young children is offered every Thursday at 4pm and Saturday at 11am.
The Lunch Bunch Book Club will meet from 1130am-1230pm on Friday, August 19. All residents are welcome to stop by and enjoy the book discussion, dessert, and coffee.
The Library Board will meet Wednesday, August 17, at 5:30pm. This session is open to the public and the agenda is posted prior to the meeting inside the library and the Mead Post Office.

New Materials
Last month, Mead Public Library received over 100 new books through the Pilcrow Foundation’s Children’s Book Project. This organization supports rural public libraries by partnering with Friends and other local sponsors to provide new hard-bound books for young readers. Stop by and check out the new additions to our collection.

MEAD VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEET JUNE 14

 

     The Village of Mead Board of Trustees held a Regular Meeting on June 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Office.  Present were Chairman Havelka; Trustees Felty, Wielage and Wimer.  Absent was Trustee Guyle.  Also present were Clerk Moline; Utility/Maintenance Supt. Raver and Police Chief Carlson.  Guests were Ben Day and Patty Knott. 

     The minutes of the 5/10 Regular Meeting and Public Hearing were approved as were the Treasurer’s Report and claims.

   SCHEDULED GUEST:  Ben Day, Olsson Associates, presented the process and financial information for a water project, annexation project and condemnation process.

     UNSCHEDULED GUEST:  Patty Knott inquired about possible annexation of her property.

     REPORTS:  Police/Zoning Admin./Nuisance Enforcement Officer:  Carlson presented the Monthly Police Activity Report.  Discussion was held on zoning concerns; satisfaction of a nuisance filed on a property; and conversation regarding allowing ATV’s/UTV’s on the streets of Mead.  Utility/Maintenance Supt.:  Raver requested permission for a farmer to plant soybeans at 309 W. Second St. and updated the board on street repairs.  A request for a “No Trespassing” sign be placed at the dump entrance was approved.  Planning Commission:  The minutes of the 5/23 were accepted.  Permits approved were 16-05, Jon and Amanda Lee - front deck extension; 16-06, James and Linda Malik  - construct a garage; 16-07, Nick Raver - erect a 6’ privacy fence; and 16-08, Gregory Larson - demolish barn.  Melissa Konecky and Connie Schliffke were reappointed to a three-year term.  Library:  The minutes of the 5/18 Library Board Meeting were accepted.  Clerk:  Moline reported on recent attendance at the International Institute of Municipal Clerk’s Conference held in Omaha.

   NEW BUSINESS:  The following action was approved:  proposal from OPPD to install a new one-phase overhead transformer to a building at 309 W. Second St. for $8,843.00; bid from SECO for $2,650.00 to install electrical hook-up to a building at 309 W. Second St.; rental of the tar machine to Mead Public Schools for $100.00 with conditions that they purchase their own product and propane and return the tar machine to the shop nightly; Resolution 16-10, Special Designated Liquor License to Michael Beckman to host a wedding reception at the Mead Community Building on July 30; and Ordinance No. 684, amend Chapter 9, Article 9, Flood Plan.

     Moline reported she has been cleaning the park restrooms and will do so through ball season and that Dan Konecky will perform numerous clean up duties during Mead Days.  Clerk directed to compose and present an ordinance for consideration of approval of ATV’s and UTV’s on Mead streets at an upcoming meeting.  Amendment of the golf cart ordinance will be reviewed in the future.  Budget item considerations were discussed.  Filing deadlines for the Board of Trustees was presented.

     The meeting adjourned at 8:37 p.m.

Dates to file for the Village of Mead Board of Trustees is July 15 for incumbents and August 1 for non-incumbents.  Apply at the Saunders County Election Commissioner’s Office in Wahoo.

 

BUILDING GUIDELINES

Village and One-mile Extraterritorial Residents

 

Prior to beginning any construction or fencing project, an APPLICATION FOR A BUILDING PERMIT must be approved by the Mead Planning Commission.  Construction projects excluded are accessory buildings less than 150 sq. ft. that meet variance requirements and residential sidewalks and driveways.  An application must also be approved if you plan to REMOVE or DEMOLISH A BUILDING.  If a project is started prior to approval, a $100.00 penalty fee is added to the project cost.  You must contact the village office to be placed on the agenda 24 hours prior to the meeting.  Since the board meets on Monday, the agenda request must be submitted no later than Friday at 10:00 a.m.

 

POOL - SPA - HOT TUB GUIDELINES

Prior to erecting a swimming pool, you must adhere to the following guidelines:  Any pool, spa or hot tub containing at least 18” of water is REQUIRED to be enclosed by a fence with a minimum height of 4’ and maximum height of 6’ with no opening greater than 4” or larger.  All gates are to be locked when not in use.  Hot tubs and spas are not required to have fencing if they have locking tops and are kept locked when not in use.  All chemicals and supplies must be stored in a secure area.  Pools, spas and hot tubs are not to be drained into the sanitary sewer system.

 

REMINDER -

All grass and weeds are to be maintained at a height no greater than 12”.  Grass clippings are NOT to be mowed into the streets.  Homeowner’s are required to trim tree branches to a height of at least 14’ above the surface of a street or sidewalk abutting their property.

 

 

WATER / SEWER PAYMENT OPTIONS

     Water meters are read the last week of the month with bills then mailed to users.  Payment is expected the 15th day the following month.  If payment is not received the following day or Monday morning after the 15th BY 9:00 A.M. a late charge of $10.00 will be added and letters indicating so will be mailed.  You will be provided ten working days to make payment or your water/sewer will be discontinued.  In order to re-establish service you will need to pay a re-connection/administration fee prior to having your service restored.  The fee is $50.00 or $65.00 if the request is made after hours, weekends or holidays. 

     Your payment in the form or cash or check may be delivered to the Village Office; mailed to Box 46, Mead, NE 68041-0046; delivered to the drop-box located by the Village Office front door; or delivered to the Bank of Mead.

 

DOG OWNERS—Please keep your dogs on leash when off your property.  You are required by village code to remove your dog’s excrement from public / private property other than your own!  DOG AND CAT OWNERS— All dogs and cats are required to be licensed by MAY 1.  If you haven’t licensed your pet in 2016, please contact the village office at 402-624-2495 to do so.  The cost is $6.00 unaltered and $4.00 altered animal

CLEAN-UP DAY A SUCCESS!

Thank-you to members of the Village of Mead Board of Trustees: Jason Felty, Gary Guyle, Shawn Havelka, Rick Wielage and Rod Wimer; and Matan Grasiani, Jon Lee, and June Moline for their help during Mead Clean-up Day.   The village collected four dumpsters of discarded items and two dumpsters of iron / metal products.  Good job residents!

Stuffed Animal (or doll/toy) Sleep Over – Friday, July 22 from 630-730pm.  All ages welcome. Bring your stuffed animal to the library for a bedtime story and tuck him/her in for an overnight at the library.  Be sure to bring him/her a pillow and blanket. From the Mead Community Group, July 2016

 

     First of all, many, many thanks to Mead Public School for allowing us to use the HS Commons for our Mead Days double feature movie on Saturday.  We also appreciate the youth of Mead Evangelical Covenant Church for their participation in the Friday Night Pop Garden, where free pop and games were offered. We are grateful for the grant that enables us to offer kid-friendly entertainment. We also thank Alma Lutheran Church for including MCG in their fund-raising picnic on June 12. Your show of support for our efforts to help families encourage healthy choices and lifestyles for our young people means the world to us. 

    

     Now, back to the book, “Parenting at the Speed of Teens”, a few thoughts now that summer is upon us.  Back in the old days, when I was young, summer meant being outdoors most of the time, but now we battle the enticements of television and internet that keep our young ones indoors instead.  One thing would be agreed-upon boundaries – this much time indoors = outdoor activities.  Encourage reading, possibly sitting on the porch swing.  Our Mead Public Library has much to offer in books and tapes, as well as activities planned for all ages throughout the summer. Our area abounds in cultural, historical destinations – just read the Thursday Omaha World Herald GO section.  Summer can be such a wonderful time for adventure.  We hope yours is enjoyable.

    

September 6th will be our next meeting, at 6:30 PM in the HS Commons.  Please join us in how to use our almost $9000 grant money for next year.

Sand Volleyball - We had 7 teams entered into our Sand Volleyball Tournament with great entertainment this year.  It was fun for our players as well as our spectators.

Beer Pong - We had 25 Beer Pong teams enter and the winners were Josh Charles and Alex Carritt.

 

Kiddie Tractor Pull - We had 9 participants in the Kiddie Tractor Pull with winners being:  Ages 4-5 :  Benjamin Popken, Ages 6-7:  Avery VanSlyke and Ages 8-9:  Quinn Carritt.

 

Fun Run - We had 64 participants with Kaleb Weist the overall winner with a time of 17.41 minutes.

Report of Mead Days 2016~ by Dalene Selko, Co-chair

 

It may have been hot but we still had a great turnout.  The weekend kicked off with great polka music provided by Dean Hansen, DJ music provided by Wayne Kriefels, and 25 teams participating in the Beer Pong Tournament.  To cap off the evening, fireworks were provided by J and M Display who did an awesome job again this year.  The Mead Community Group provided fun games for middle age children prior to the fireworks.  A special thank you to Mary Linscomb for singing the National Anthem.  Also a nice rain shower capped the night off.  We couldn’t have had a successful Mead Days without rain!

 

Saturday began with the Fun Run with 64 participants.  The weather was great!  A special thanks to the Mead Community Group for providing a water station along the route for the runners.  Continued activities were 7 teams participating in the Coed Sand Volleyball Tournament, 14 Horseshoe teams and over 25 entries in the parade.  Mary Hass sang the Star Spangled Banner and PJ Quinn served as MC for the parade.  Additional activities were kid games, pony rides, movies (sponsored by the Mead Community Group), a Kiddie Tractor Pull, a special show presented by the Real Princesses of Omaha, a Magic Show by Jeff Quinn, and Blow-up games provided by Big Red Bounce House.  We had 28 teams participate in the Chinese Horseshoes contest.

 

A special thanks to Papa Bear Carving for being on-site throughout Saturday demonstrating his talents at carving for all of us to see.  As a fundraiser, we were able to auction off four items created by Papa Bear Carving.  Thank you to everyone who purchased a carving and for your help with the auction.  A special thanks to Tim Dickes and PJ Quinn for serving as our auctioneers.  Also a special thank you to NMC Cat for the use of their generator to help with the kids’ blow ups.

 

Saturday evening we featured a great street dance by the Bucka Ruse.  The dance was sponsored by the Mead Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.  A special thank you to Kerry Knuth for the use of his trailer for the event.

 

Sunday rolled around and I don’t think anyone left the park hungry due to eating all of the great BBQ food.  A special thanks to all of the contestants.  We had several BBQ contestants with multiple food entries.  We had a blast and the judges commented how much they loved the food.  The backyard games were set up to enjoy while listening to great music by Kevin Johnson.  It was a lot of fun and some great food was shared with the community.  A special thanks to Eddie Couch for setting up a Slip and Slide for the kids to enjoy during the day.

 

Overall the weekend was a huge success for everyone.  We had all-aged visitors from all over.  The Mead Days Committee, Mead Ball Association and Mead Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department would like to thank everyone for participating.  A special thanks to all of the volunteers who made this weekend a success.  Also, a special thank you to the people who live near the park for the use of their electricity and allowing us to have these events at the park.  Without your dedication and donations Mead Days would not be possible.  Thanks again and mark your calendars now for next year’s Mead Days, June 15-17, 2017.  It’s always the third weekend in June.
