Dr. Dobesh with Green Acre Animal Clinic,
Wahoo, will be present to administer pet vaccinations and the Village Clerk
will be available to issue dog and cat licenses with proof of rabies
vaccination and alteration. Available on
the 5th will be vaccinations of rabies, distemper/parvo for dogs and
rabies/distemper for cats. Products
available to purchase will be Heartgard and Frontline for your pets. Blood tests for heartworm will also be
available. Cost to license your pet is
$4.00 altered, $6.00 intact. ALL DOGS
and CATS within village limits are to be licensed by May 1.

PAYMENT
If you have an account with the Bank of Mead you can have your water / sewer payment
automatically withdrawn on the 15th of the month. Stop by the Village Office and complete the
Application for Direct Deposit to begin the process. We are working on having bills sent via email
if you have an email account, but have a few “bugs” to work out with our
utility billing service.
MEAD LIBRARY NEWS -
On February 25th and March 1st we will be celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss
here at the Mead Public Library Story Times!!! Join us for special
snacks, fun crafts and of course Dr. Seuss stories!
Thank-you to everyone who attended the
Friends of the Library Spaghetti Feed on January 25th. We had a great turn-out and there were no
leftovers! Your support of the library will allow us to purchase a new
circulation desk. We are hoping to have it delivered this Spring.
National Take Your Child to the Library
Day on February 1st was also a great success. We greeted more than 25
people and everyone enjoyed donuts and juice. The children had fun doing
crafts and a Valentine's story was read for storytime. See YOU at the library!

Village
of Mead Board Minutes - February 11th
The Village of Mead Board of Trustees met
February 11, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Office. Present were Chairman Guyle; Trustees
Havelka, Miller and Wimer. Absent was
Trustee Wielage. Also present were Clerk
Moline, Utility/Maintenance Supt. Raver and Police Chief Carlson. Guests were Ben Day and Mike Coyle.
SCHEDULED GUESTS:
Ben Day, Olsson Assoc., presented an update on the Wastewater Lagoon
Project: pumps and generator will start
up tomorrow, schedule for demolition of treatment plant, remove temporary
entrance off Hwy. 92, placement of a gate on the east side of the property,
requested leaving the ramp on the east side of the lagoon and seeding of the
berm. Mike Coyle inquired as to
his Building Permit request for an addition to his garage that had been denied
by the Planning Commission.
REPORTS:
UTILITY/MAINTENANCE: Raver reported sewer line issue, water line
break and snowplow maintenance.
Discussion was held on ball field maintenance, future mowing and baling
needs. The board approved $1,000.00 to
the Mead Ball Assoc. for agrilime for the ball fields. POLICE: The Monthly Police Report was presented,
along with discussion on a garage in need of repair and sand pile issue
recently resolved. Discussion on
unlicensed and junk vehicles and complaint procedure were discussed. LIBRARY REPORT: Minutes of the Nov. 20 and Jan. 15 meetings
were reviewed. Recognized was the
resignation of Megan Engel from the Library Board. Sara Nicola was approved as a member of the
Library Board. PLANNING COMMISSION
REPORT: The minutes of the Jan. 27
meeting were reported.
Action was taken to approve second reading
of Ord. 643, Sewer Rates, first reading of Ord. 644 and 645; Non-exclusive
Franchise Agreements with Quality Disposal and Waste Connections for garbage
services; and Resolution 14-04, Interlocal Cooperation Agreement for a Mutual
Finance Organization. Advertisement for
a summer custodian to clean the park restrooms will be posted and contact be
made with the City of Wahoo for mosquito spraying for 2014. The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
VILLAGE
OF MEAD Part-time Summer Cleaning Position
This position is to clean the restrooms
located at the Mead Park from April 15 to October 1. You must be able to dedicate 2 hours per
week, with additional hours during Mead Days.
Requirements are: 1) Be at least 15 years of age, 2) Be able to lift 20 lbs. unassisted, 3) Be able to work with little or no
supervision, 4) Be a self starter: able to accomplish required tasks as
assigned, 5) Not be allergic to cleaning
chemicals.
This position is open to anyone that meets
the above requirements. For an
application, contact the Village Office at 402-624-2495 or stop by the Village
Office, 8 am - 3 pm.

clippings are the ONLY items permitted.
All items must be unbagged. A
dumpster is also onsite to dispose of iron/metal products. The dump is open to Mead residents ONLY, at a charge of
$2.00 per load. All loads will be
checked by the Dumpmaster prior to disposal of the items.

Your April billing will reflect the usage
rate you will be charged for sewer for the next year. To arrive at your sewer usage rate, the water
you used in the months of January, February and March is averaged.
The
Wastewater Lagoon Project has a deadline of April 1. The lagoons are now working. Remainder of the project will be demolishment
of the old wastewater treatment plant.
The project is supported with General Bond Obligations, two grants, a
low interest loan from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality and
user fees.
