VILLAGE
OF MEAD BOARD MINUTES - FEBRUARY 14
A regular meeting of the Village of Mead
Board of Trustees was held Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. Answering roll call were Chairman Havelka;
Trustees Guyle and Wielage. Absent were
Trustees Felty and Wimer. Also present
were Clerk Moline, Utility/Maintenance Superintendent Raver and Police Chief
Carlson . Guest was Craig Reinsch.
PUBLIC
HEARING: A Public Hearing was called
at 6:04 p.m. to act on the One and Six Year Street Improvement Plan. Discussion was held, followed by a call for
public input. The board reconvened to
regular session at 6:15 p.m.
SCHEDULED
GUEST: Engineer Craig Reinsch
discussed the status of the Water Project.
REPORTS: Police - Carlson presented the Police
Report. Discussed were unlicensed cats,
nuisance concern and parking concern along Elm Street. Utility/Maintenance Superintendent -
Raver reported tree removal, future replacement of water mains, future
installation of sewer lines and management of recycling bins. Planning Commission - The minutes of
the January 23 Regular Meeting were accepted.
Library - The minutes of the January 18 Library Board Meeting
were accepted. Clerk - Moline
report 7th and 8th Street concerns, speed limit in school zone, upcoming
demolition of the house at 420 S. Cedar Street and park restroom custodian
advertisement.
The following action was approved: Resolution 17-01, One and Six Year Street
Improvement Plan; Legal Services Agreement with Maureen Freeman-Caddy for the
water project; permit to the Mead Days Committee to close First Street from Elm
Street to Vine Street during Mead Days; Resolution 17-03, Interlocal
Cooperation Agreement for a Mutual Finance Organization; and 2017 Baling
Agreement with Terry Miller.
Items of discussions were Alternative
Investment Tool with NPAIT to be presented at the March 14 meeting; approved
Cedar Bluffs Legion Baseball use of baseball field for part of the summer with
them being responsible for field preparation; park improvements; and Mead
Clean-up Day. A thank-you for the
Appreciation Dinner was acknowledged.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.

Dr.
Dobesh will be present to administer vaccinations for rabies, distemper and
parvo for dogs and rabies and distemper for cats. Heartgaard and Frontline will be available to
purchase, along with blood tests for heartworm. Licenses may be purchased from the Clerk.
All dogs and cats are to be licensed by MAY 1.

What
are typical applications for an Air Gap?
Because
today’s complex plumbing systems normally require continuous pressure, air gap
applications are actually in the minority.
It should be remembered, however, that whenever a piping terminates a
suitable distance above a contaminant, this itself is actually an air gap. Air Gaps are frequently used on industrial
processing application, but care should be taken that subsequent alterations
are not made to the piping which would result in a direct connection.
What
are typical applications for Atmospheric Vacuum Breakers?
Atmospheric
Vacuum Breakers can be used on most inlet type water connections which are not
subject to back-pressure such as low inlet feeds to receptacles containing
toxic and non-toxic substances, valve outlet or fixture with hose attachments,
lawn-sprinkler systems and commercial dishwashers.
What
are typical applications for Hose Bibb Vacuum Breakers?
Hose
Bibb Vacuum Breakers are popularly used on sill cocks, service sinks and any
threaded pipe to which a hose may potentially be attached.

through September 1. You can pick up an
application from the Village Office, or if requested that an application be

March 16: St. Patrick’s Day will be
celebrated with a Story Time Party at 4pm. The party will be hosted by the Mead
Public Library Teen Advisory Board (TAB).

March 18: Join us for Books for
Bingo! 1030a – 1130a Each winner will receive a gently used
book. All ages welcome!

Summer Reading Program
Parents
of young children and community volunteers are needed for Summer Reading

Library Delivery Service
