VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEET

 

     The Village of Mead Board of Trustees met December 8 at 6:00pm at the Village Office.  Answering roll call were Chairman Guyle; Trustees Havelka, Nicola, Wielage & Wimer.  Also present were Clerk Moline, Utility/Maintenance Supt. Raver and Police Chief Carlson.  Guest present was Craig Reinsch.

     Havelka was elected Chairman.  The following appointments were approved:  Police Chief-Jerry Carlson; Clerk/Treasurer-June Moline; Utility/Maintenance Supt.-Nick Raver; Attorney-Maureen Freeman-Caddy; Accountant-Ed Schroeder; Engineer-Olsson Associates; Street Supt.-Julie Ogden; Building Inspector-Terry Miller; & Zoning Administrator & Nuisance Enforcement Officer-Jerry Carlson.  Action was taken to approve the Bank of Mead as the official depository; Inspro Insurance as insurance carrier; Wahoo Newspaper as the official newspaper & Retirement Plan Consultants as 401k administrator. The official posting of meetings are the Bank of Mead, Mead Post Office & Village Office.  The Planning Commission & Library Board are approved by appointment. The following committees were established:  Common Board Facility Board-Wielage & Wimer; Municipal Board of Health-Havelka, Police Chief Carlson & community health care provider Mary Miller; & Board of Adjustment-Havelka, Nicola, Wielage, Wimer & Planning Commission Chair Weible.  Guyle will serve as alternate on the Board of Adjustment.

     PUBLIC HEARING:  The Hearing was called at 6:10 p.m. to address recommendations from the Planning Commission to amend the Building Permit Section & Zoning Regulations of the Municipal Code.  The hearing adjourned at 6:22 p.m.

     Action was taken to approve first reading of Ord. No. 671, Building Permits with the addition of $150.00 fee for a Permitted Conditional Use & addition of a Maintenance Code.

     SCHEDULED GUEST:  Craig Reinsch, Olsson Associates, presented the Water Treatment Evaluation.  Action was taken to approve the final copy of the Water Treatment Evaluation & submit an application to WWAC for water project funding.

     REPORTS:  Utility/Maintenance Supt.-Discussion was held on a street concern.  Police-The Monthly Police Report was presented.  Nuisance concerns were addressed.  Planning Commission-The minutes of the 11/23 Regular Meeting & Public Hearing & Building Permits 15-12, 15-13 & 15-14 were approved.  Library-The minutes of the 11/18 Library Board Meeting were presented.  Clerk-Meter maintenance was reviewed.

     Action was taken to approve an amendment to the Park Rental Agreement; approve first reading of Ord. No. 672, Occupation Tax; adopt Resolution 15-22 Special Assessment on property described as Lots 9 & 10, Block 11, Original Town, Mead for uncollected water & sewer fees; adopt Resolution 15-24, amend Employee Handbook; & adopt Resolution 15-25, Special Designated Liquor License to Mead Fire Department to host a Game Feed on 2/20/16 at the Mead Community Bldg.

     The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.

 

 SANTA COMES TO MEAD ~

Thank you to members of the Mead Fire / Rescue Department for sponsoring Santa’s visit to Mead Elementary Schools and Mead Village Office.  Santa’s visit is always a special time for the young and young at heart.

 

 

GUIDELINES FOR SNOW REMOVAL

 

Following a snowfall of two (2”) inches or more, it shall be unlawful to park or stand any vehicle on any street within the Village of Mead until the street has been cleared.  5-311

 

Any vehicle parked in violation of any traffic regulations or any vehicle parked so as to obstruct  the free movement of traffic or to cause a traffic hazard, or any vehicle parked on any street or alley obstructing the removal of snow may be immediately removed upon order of the Police Department.  5-304

 

All sidewalks within the municipality shall be cleaned within twenty-four (24) hours after the cessation of the storm.  8-201.

 

If there is snowfall the dump WILL BE CLOSED.  The dump is open the first Saturday of the month ONLY from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., November 1 through March 31.

Lunch Bunch Book Club where everyone is invited.  Call or stop by the library for more information and to pick up a book.

 

TAB Meeting - January 21 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Teen Advisory Board:  If you are in grades 6-12, please join us for an hour of fun.

 

Spaghetti Feed at Mead Jr-Sr High School Commons - January 23 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Spaghetti Fundraiser for Your Library.  Stop by Mead Jr.-Sr. High School for some delicious pasta!

 

BATS will be here!  January 29 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Hibernating bats from Nebraska Wildlife Rehab Inc. will be here!  Check Face Book or come in for more information.

 

We are looking for donations of gently used holiday decorations.  If you find you have more than you needed this year, please consider donating to Your Library.  Thanks for your support.
